The Knuckles brief was initially to design a logo expressing the charming playfulness of an independent animation studio specialising in 2D and stop motion. Both Chris and Susie Shapones expressed a desire for a retro 80's≠90's aesthetic, nodding back to early tv and movies such as The Labyrinth and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Working closely with Chris and Susie in the studio as well as via emails, I was able to create a whimsical piece by implementing retro colour palettes and shapes. My main goal was to communicate a playful feeling through simple design features such as the swoop of the text, while still having a functional element that could be implemented into other deliverables such as business cards and email signatures.
At the completion of the project, I had created a package of 8 full size logos, as well as secondary designs for different branding purposes.
